We will host a Packing Party on June 15th from 4-6 PM! We will activate our compassion and make 250 Dignity Bags for our neighbors in need.
Dignity Bags are high-quality hygiene kits with snacks and printed resources that we give to our unhoused neighbors. Our goal with the bags is to build a social and emotional connection while ensuring that our neighbors don’t have to spend their limited resources on items like soap, toothpaste, or socks.

Intercambio (Spanish/English Language Exchange)
SATURDAY, June 15th from 6PM-8PM, IN-PERSON, we will host our 3rd “intercambio” for neighbors on the Upper East Side in collaboration with Open Hearts Initiative.
We will have scripted conversation starters in English and Spanish, we will play games to practice language skills as well as share dinner, and other essential resources. Our community clothing closet will also be available for those that need clothing.
If you’re able to volunteer at this event (help your asylum-seeker neighbors learn English while learning or practicing your Spanish), please email Project1231nyc@gmail.com.
No prior experience or level of fluency in Spanish is required–it’s really about building community and learning a little bit from each other. You can also help with “childcare,” providing activities for the children of participants such as stories, games, and coloring. This is a FREE event and ALL are welcome to attend.
