the dignity bag project

If we create Dignity Bags (hygiene kits with nutritious snacks and printed resources for clothing, food, showers, and more), the housed will be able to give them to the unhoused which will allow social and emotional connections to be made which will destigmatize the homeless experience and create space for people to choose to reintegrate into society, if that is what they want, and allow those who live on the street to do so with Dignity.

What Are Dignity Bags?

Those who are experiencing homelessness and living below the poverty line should have easy access to hygiene kits, food, and private and public resources that make it easier to live with dignity.

Dignity Bags are prepackaged hygiene kits that include, but are not limited to:

  • socks
  • deodorant
  • fans
  • rain poncho
  • soap
  • mylar thermal blankets
  • toothbrush
  • toothpaste
  • period products (as needed)
  • nutritious snacks
  • a printed list of resources so people have access to services such as emergency housing, mental health counseling, showers, clothing and more.
