prayer team

At Project 12.31, we believe in the power of bold and specific prayers. We meet every Tuesday from 7-8:15pm (EST) on Zoom to pray and would love for you to join us. If you can't join us, you can find our current prayer requests below! We are so grateful for your prayers and thank you for joining us as we petition God with thanksgiving and great expectation.

1. $250,000 quarterly – we know this may seem like a LOT of money but, we have big ideas for how we can create easy opportunities to love your neighbor like yourself and those ideas require funding to make them a reality!

2. That like minded individuals who understand and live the culture and values of Project 12.31 would join our team and help move our mission and vision forward. We are specifically praying for a Grant Writer, Social Media and Brand Manager, Tax Attorney, an Accountant and affordable insurance.

3. That we would have opportunities to share about Project 12.31 with more people on podcasts and panels.

4. People to PRAY WITH US every Tuesday from 7:00PM – 8:15 EST on ZOOM

This week’s leader and prayer structure is:

How and Why We Pray

There are many ways to pray and below are different structures and examples found in the Bible on how to pray. Our goal is that you have a fresh understanding of prayer and that you learn how to pray in power in groups and as individuals. Each week, we will pray using one or more of the structured examples below.

  • We expect God to answer our prayers according to His will.
  • We seek first His Kingdom and His righteous with prepared hearts.
  • We believe that prayer combats any unbelief.
  • We do not pray only when we are scared, anxious, afraid or we want something. Our prayers are a lifestyle and an intimate exchange and connection with God based on His love and will for our lives.
  • We believe that prayer makes our faith and actions potent.
  • We believe that bold and specific petitions create change.
  • We believe we are intercessors who stand in the gap to plea on behalf of others with all Godly authority.
  • We ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to pray according to God’s will and not our own.
  • We pray with God, in partnership, and not to Him.
  • We ask first, we seek first, we pray first.
  • When praying in groups, we step up and then step back. We keep our prayers targeted and about 1-2 minutes long.
  • Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name – We begin by praising, thanking and worshipping God for who He is
  • Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven – We pray that God’s will be done and invite the Holy Spirit to empower us to pray according to God’s will. We also pray the armor of God over ourselves as we pray.
  • Give us this day our daily bread – We pray for our spiritual and physical needs
  • And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors – We ask God to empower us to forgive others and ourselves
  • And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil – We pray for protection, safety and deliverance from temptation
  • For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. We thank God for answering our prayers according to His will and sealing the prayer time in Jesus’ name.
  • The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. – We praise God for who He is. We thank Him for guiding us, leading us, refreshing us and being what we need at all times.
  • He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake – We thank God for his righteousness and ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to stay close to God while we submit to His will and His ways.
  • Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and your staff they comfort – We bring our prayer requests (fears, anxieties, any hard emotions or situations) to God. We thank him for his protection, love, guidance and rest.
  • You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows –We thank God for His protection and generous and consistent blessings.
  • Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – We thank God for pursuing us, loving us and answering our prayers according to His will. We’ll seal the prayer time in Jesus’ name.

Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord; we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against wickedness and darkness in high places.

Having done all to stand, I stand therefore with my loins gird about with the belt of truth. Let the truth go before me. I put on the breastplate of righteousness and declare my heart is covered in righteousness.

I put on the helmet of salvation. The blood of Jesus covers me, sanctifies me and puts a hedge of protection around me and my family. It keeps my heart pure and focused on you, God.

I shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. That with every place that I step foot, You would give me words of Your peace to bring in each situation.

I thank You for the shield of faith which quenches all fiery darts. They cannot go over, under, through or around it. I thank you God for increasing my faith to guard against attacks of the enemy.

I have the sword of the spirit which is Your word. I hide it in my heart so I may not sin against You and I thank You for giving me Your word to help actively fight back against attacks of the enemy.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Psalm 32:1-2

Psalm 34:1-4

Psalm 41:1

Psalm 62:7-8

Psalm 66:1-2

  • Glory. “Father, the hour has come, glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you.” John 17:1 – take a moment to prepare your heart to hear. Ask Him to speak to you. Our heart’s posture is what’s most important.
  • Intercession. “I pray for them.” John 17:9
  • Protection. “Keep them from the evil one.” John 17:15
  • Sanctification. “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” He also prayed for His future believers. John 17:17-20
  • Unity. “That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us” John 17:20-21
  • Presence. “Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me.” John 17:24
  • Love. “love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:20-26

Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” John 11:41-42

Jesus thanked His Father for answered prayer, before His prayer was answered. His mind was so in tune with the Father that He could boldly ask knowing it was the will of God. In the same way, our Savior calls us to align our hearts with our Heavenly Father’s heart. His plan is for our requests to be His desires, our needs to be His wishes, our goals to be His objectives, our will to be His will. Consequently, we can thank Him for answered prayers.

Matthew 26:39, 42 and 44

  • Protection. “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
  • Sanctification. “So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endure.” Hebrews 13:12
  • Unity. To “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, …” Ephesians 4:12-13
  • Presence. “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19
  • Love. “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
